Bio

I grew up in Central Illinois and completed my undergraduate education in Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution at University of Illinois and my graduate education in Evolutionary Biology at Illinois State University. After leaving IL, I lived in several places that, in hindsight, seem as different from the flat, rural, agricultural landscape as possible: beautiful desert in Las Cruces, NM, idyllic cityscape in Zürich, Switzerland, and snowy wonderland Rochester, NY. I finally landed in Spartanburg, SC in 2010.

I am passionate about teaching and ensuring the success of my students, particularly those that are first generation (like myself) or come from groups that are under-represented in the sciences. When I’m not at Wofford, I am often running, hiking, reading, knitting, playing video games, or tending to the needs and whims of my cats.
