Dr. Joseph Spivey

Associate Professor of Mathematics

Brief Biography

I grew up on a horse farm in a small town near Birmingham, Alabama. I went to Oxford College of Emory University and finished my undergraduate degree at Emory University. I majored in mathematics. I studied algebraic topology in graduate school at Duke University (see my research page for what topology is). I have been teaching in the mathematics department at Wofford College since 2008. I am lucky to be married to Dr. Natalie Spivey, a professor in Wofford’s biology department. We have two amazing children.
