Abstractions: 2010
Piet Mondrian once said that he was “inspired more by the beauty of lines and color and the relationships between them than by the concrete subject of the picture.” Many of my photographs in the past few years have been similarly inspired in that they depend more on the arrangement of colors, lines and form than on the identity of the subject.
These photographs, all which were taken in the past two years, are examples of this approach. The subjects often are evident (e.g., a window or some graffiti) but they are not the primary inspiration for the pictures.
