Mt Athos: 2008

During the summer of 2008, Peter Schmunk, G.R. Davis and I travelled to the Mt. Athos Peninsula in northern Greece. For seven days we hiked between some of the Greek Orthodox monasteries there and, as pilgrims, we were given food and a place to sleep each night.

Camino de Santiago: 2010

In the summer of 2010, Peter Schmunk and I traveled to northern Spain. We visited the Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa, the cities of Burgos and León, and a few villages around Burgos. The main purpose of the trip was to backpack on two sections of the Camino de Santiago, a medieval pilgrimage route ending at Santiago de Compostela. We hiked a total of around 110 miles in 8 days on the meseta of Castile and León and the lush (and rainy) hills of Galicia.
