This transdisciplinary environmental humanities course considers imaginations of the world by diverse communities and creators in Latin America and the Iberian peninsula; key theoretical approaches and concepts for the study of these imaginaries; and texts from diverse cultures in the Ibero-American world.

Advanced Spanish with Community-Based Learning (SPAN 303)
Launched in 2002 in collaboration with community and school leaders in a Title I elementary school district, Advanced Spanish with Community-Based Learning involves more than 60 first and second-year Wofford students in civic learning in the diverse communities of Upstate South Carolina. The course is designed to amplify efforts for educational equity in Spartanburg and to foster students’ Spanish language learning in four skill areas (reading, writing, speaking, listening), intercultural understanding, and civic knowledge. Awarded the SC Commission on Higher Ed award for Excellence in Service Learning for the 2003-2004 academic year.
