Do you want to be a consultant<\/strong>? An entrepreneur<\/strong>?<\/p>\n Do you want to gather family histories<\/strong>? Or maybe engage in action research to help your community<\/strong>?<\/p>\n This interim will help you develop the skills to gather stories, observe surroundings and social interactions<\/strong>, and analyze what you learn. It will help you ask the right questions<\/strong> to get the answers you need for whatever your goals might be.<\/p>\n Schedule: MTWThF 9-12. Fee: $150<\/p>\n Course description:<\/p>\n Stories are special ways of coming to know our world, calling us to experience lives of others \u2013 strangers, friends, or family\u00a0members \u2013 through their eyes. In this course, students will learn to tell stories and to listen to stories in ways that frame\u00a0experiences with wonder. Learned skills in interviewing and observation can help students gather important information,\u00a0whether for family histories or high-powered consulting firms. Students will have the option to work individually or\u00a0collaboratively on a project of their own choosing that involves interviewing, observation, or both. Possible projects include but\u00a0are not limited to: A documentary study of a particular aspect of Wofford or Spartanburg; a written study of the lives of a\u00a0group of people with common experiences (such as athletes, musicians, people from large families, etc.); an analysis of a\u00a0particular social dynamic on campus or in the community, or a trial consulting run for a client at Wofford or elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n
