{"id":2,"date":"2011-08-29T20:25:25","date_gmt":"2011-08-29T20:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.wofford.edusites_wofford_edupsychologykingdom\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2022-09-07T08:55:11","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T12:55:11","slug":"hom","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.wofford.edu\/psychologykingdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Psychology Kingdom is a chartered campus organization for students with an interest in psychology.\u00a0 You do not have to major in psychology in order to participate in our events.<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">What does the Psychology Kingdom do?<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\">We <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/woco_psychkingdom\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">host academic events<\/span><\/a> that include seminars on applying for graduate school, surviving senior thesis, and preparing to take the GRE, as well as guest speakers and student research presentations.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/woco_psychkingdom\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Faculty and students gather socially<\/span><\/a> for luncheons, tailgates, study breaks during finals week, a holiday party, and graduation cookout.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\">We<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/woco_psychkingdom\/\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">help our community<\/span><\/a> by participating in service projects like bake sales to benefit local animal rescues, the Memory Walk to benefit the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Alzheimer&#8217;s Association, the campus Halloween Carnival, Cupcakes for Cards (to support hospitalized children), and Terrier Play Day.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><br \/>\nWe are always looking for new activities and we welcome all students!<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.wofford.edu\/psychologykingdom\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture2(1).jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"156\" \/><\/h4>\n<h4>The unusual name has its origin in the early 1970s when Psychology professor Dr. John Pilley (shown left with his wife Sally) began organizing events for psychology students. The Kingdom formed with Dr. Pilley and his wife, Sally, as the King and Queen. Students earned positions of Duke, Prince, and even Jester.
