Stories

stories 1
stories 2

Amman, Jordan’s downtown at sunset. A near-full view of Jerusalem at sunset, with the Dome of the Rock glistening in the sun.

I hear a voice
Looking over the city at sunset
It’s a Monday
My favorite spot
With Shawarma and a book of prayers

Another sunset with
German tourists
Palestinian boys
A Hasidic family
And me

You have to tell their stories, Kendall
But you can’t.
You have to relive these days for other people
But you can’t.
You have to bring something back for them
But you can’t.

But you have to.
That’s what the voice said
Then it told me to go home.
