Charles D. Kay

Professor of Philosophy,

Now retired, Prof. Kay created and directed Wofford’s Medical Humanities Program, and served formerly as Chair of the Philosophy Department. His specialties include BioMedical Ethics, Philosophy of Religion, and the History & Philosophy of Science and Medicine.  He is a past president of the South Carolina Society for Philosophy.

Prof. Kay continues to serve on the Ethics Committee of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, the Bioethics Committee of the South Carolina Medical Association., and the board of the SC Healthcare Ethics Network.  In 2019 he received the Howard Radest Award from the SCMA Bioethics Committee for his contributions and service.
