Course Description:
A survey of literary texts from locales around the globe (outside Britain and the United States). Readings will include short stories, poems, and a few select novels spanning Asia, South Asia, South America, Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Europe. Course Objectives: Students are expected to acquire an appreciation of the literary value of the texts covered, knowledge of the cultural and historical contexts that produced those texts, and the ability to write and speak about them with clarity, insight and eloquence.
